Both copy typing services and transcription services seem a lot alike but there are quite a few differences between the two and understanding these differences before hiring one of these services is very important because generally transcription services are much more costly and time consuming then copy typing services. In copy typing services the service provider only has to convert a hand written document or a document that is typed on a typewriter into a Microsoft Word document; which is very easy while in transcription services the service provider has to carefully convert an audio recording i.e. audio tape, digital recording, DVD, video etc into a typed format by carefully listening to the recording over and over to make sure no mistake has been made. Also, because of the different types of transcription services, it requires a good deal of knowledge about a specific field while copy typing services do not.
